Now I can see the moon

As of today, the days start getting longer again. We’re at the darkest point of the year in the northern hemisphere. In my new home I can see the stars shining brightly most nights and it has been fascinating to watch their position each evening. Locating constellations was hard at first because there are so many visible stars, but of course as I re-learn where the winter constellations are, I can find them again.

The Milky Way turns a bit each night and before we know it the summer stars will be visible. But while the darkness of winter is upon us, being able to watch the sky rotate above me is a good reminder of the rhythm of the natural world and perhaps of our own lives.

What rhythms do you create this time of year? May you embrace and celebrate them. I hope December brings you some time for peace and maybe some tapestry weaving.

Holiday tapestry

I’ve posted a lot of holiday this and that over the years. If you’d like to visit any of those videos or posts, they’re linked below. For this year, I’m taking time to watch the stars circle above at night and celebrate the warm sunshine while I weave during the day.

January will be upon us soon enough. I’ll be taking the rest of this year off from the newsletter, blog, and Change the Shed. I’ll see you in January when we’ll have some new and exciting tapestry projects to tackle together.

May you have a peaceful solstice and a bright New Year.

Past Holiday Tapestry posts

I’ve made several holiday videos. A couple are time lapse videos of me weaving. Some are just goofy holiday-themed romps.
